Upcoming Review: Deep Blue

 * Book One in the Waterfire Saga *

Serafina's big day has finally arrived, but she's not sure she's ready. By the end of the day, she will have shown her court her strength as their next leader and be betrothed to Prince Mahdi. Yet that morning, she wakes late from a terrible nightmare that felt very real.

As she readies herself for the day, rumors swirl around her: about her betrothed, about herself, and about unrest in the kingdom. Sera learns that the betrothal means more to the kingdom than her feelings and she must do her duty as future ruler.

She sings her spells, creating a magical time for her people, but her moment of triumph is ruined when an arrow slices through the water and hits her mother. Now Sera realizes that her nightmare, wasn't just a nightmare. She must protect her realm at all costs, along with the powerful mermaids from her dream. Together they have the power to save the realm - if they're not captured first.
My Thoughts: I devoured this book and it's the perfect book for reading at the beach or pool side. I didn't want it to end and I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in the series (that ending!). I loved the set-up of the novel and discovering the world of Miromara - descendants from the lost city of Atlantis. The set-up ended with the attack on the queen, action and danger take over the book. Sera and her BFF Neela swam and fought for their lives - multiple times. My heart raced and I gasped as they had some very close calls. I really liked the fellow mermaids - the ones they need to help stop the evil force.  I enjoyed the people they met along the way - the ones who betrayed them and the ones who helped them. A fantastic start to this new series that deals with love, friendship, family drama, royalty, secrets, betrayals, a dark evil, and a sacred pact.

Cover Thoughts: Love it - it's perfect
